Unless you are borderline on your credit score it is not a bad idea to shop around for a mortgage. Mortgage brokers work with a various sources. Some are willing to give discounts others are not. Whenever I shop around for rates I ask every mortgage broker to give me their best rate and payment with everything rolled into rate, NOT loan balance. Sometimes I take a higher than market because doing so can yield a credit to offset the lenders closing costs. I find it to be the easiest way to compare multiple lenders, and various costs. Additionally I would stress sometimes the cheapest isn’t always the best. Go with the lender that you you feel most comfortable and confident will come through for you. Below is a flyer from Todd Kolpak who is one of the mortgage broker’s my client’s have given great feedback on.
